Toddler Beds Bring New Challenges

Has your child outgrown his or her crib? Is it time for a “big kid” bed? If so, you’ll want to understand a few things about toddler beds and how your child’s sleep patterns are about to change as a result of your decision to upgrade to a childrens bed.
First, unlike the crib, the toddler bed makes getting in and out of bed very easy for your child. Not only will you need to teach your child that staying in bed all night is important, but you will also need to be sure that he or she is old enough to understand your instructions. For example, while some 12 month-old children may be rather large and appear to need a bigger bed, the safest bet is probably keeping him or her in the crib for several more months, since most 12 month-old will not understand the concept of staying put.
Additionally, it can be a scary experience for a toddler to fall out of bed. To be on the safe side, and to avoid your child experiencing any fears that he or she will not be able to articulate, it’s best to purchase a bed that is low to the floor, perhaps even with the mattress resting on the floor and the bed frame itself being elevated above the mattress level. Another option would be to purchase a toddler bed that has railings already attached to it. Finally, the third option is to buy a bed that can allow for the addition of railings that are purchased separately. The idea is to be sure that the child will not only be safe but also FEEL safe.
Regardless of why you are choosing to move your child into a toddler bed, just be sure to try several models in the store before making the final purchase. The last thing you’d want to have is a bed that a child refuses to sleep in.
Why not look at a themed childs bed such as our fantastic racing car bed?
