Pillows Of Different Types

Posted by Jay on 06/08/2009 under Pillows.

pillowIt is very important to rest and sleep to recover from the rigour of your working day. Using the right type of pillow is just as important as using the right type of mattress. You need to wake up the next morning, or from your afternoon nap, refreshed to face the day. There are many different types of pillows for different purposes.

Pillows are used for support and comfort and selecting the right one makes the difference between comfortable sleep and a disturbed night. The normal pillow you use under your head should be soft. Its thickness depends on what you are comfortable with.

Neck Pillows – These are good to use if you have neck pain. They fit comfortably and have a contour to fill the space between the head and the neck.

Knee Pillows – Use of these pillows helps reduce the strain in the lower back. This pillow between the knees keeps the spine straight, in its natural position.

U-Shaped Pillows – Also known as travel pillows, these are great for sleeping in a sitting position. Fitting cosily around your neck, this pillow supports your head while you are sitting.

Pillows for Lower Back – Your body has a natural inward arch in the spine. You will need to support your lower back by placing such pillows in the curve when you are sitting for longer periods. This is a good pillow to use if you wish to avoid sciatica.

Body Pillows – These pillows are great for pregnant women as they support the abdominal area. These pillows are as long as the body is, and are the best option for people who sleep on their side. They allow you to dispense with the neck pillow and the knee pillow and make do with one.

So, how do you choose the right pillow for you? Well, check out our previous post!
