Designing the perfect bedroom for your child

Posted by Steve on 14/08/2009 under Beds.

It is easy to be daunted by the thought of designing the perfect bedroom for your child, particularly if you are on a budget. It is difficult if this is your first child but, in many ways, even more tough with subsequent children as ideally you want something individual for them rather than to appear to be recycling old ideas.

Space is often limited but, if you can find the right children’s bedroom furniture, you can create something which is young, fun and stylish and still affordable.

Most children love bunk beds and they leave lots of space for desks for homework and computer games, wardrobes and toy boxes. There are lots of themed childrens beds as well such as the racing car style bed or even a fire engine kids bed. These are great fun and really liven up a website.

You should not lose the opportunity to obtain furniture which will organise your child’s bedroom and help keep it clean. Look for furniture which accommodates their clothes, toys and special personal items but still looks great. There are lots of ranges available and these are easily found by doing an internet search.

Involve your child in choosing the colours. Let them get their bedroom decorated in their favourite colours to make them feel really special.

On a practical note, make sure all the furniture has rounded edges to avoid any accidents.

As your child gets older, the futon bunk is worth considering. This combines a bed on top and a sofa bed below. It is the ultimate space saver and whilst the bed is well above any clutter, the sofa provides a comfortable space for reading or additional sleeping.

Another option is a loft bed with a desk underneath.  Keep furniture away from doors to try and create a feeling of space.
