Is a memory foam right for you?

One of the hottest items on the market for mattresses right now is the Memory Foam Mattress. This type of mattress is made of a special foam material that molds to the person’s body. As the person moves freely across the surface of the mattress, the areas that had been molded to the body shift back to their original shape.
Unlike a traditional spring and coil mattress, the memory foam mattress does not hit any pressure points on the body. In fact, when you lay down on it, your weight is distributed across the entire surface of the mattress so that even when someone lies down beside you, he or she would not feel the unbalance of an additional body on the bed.
You may have even seen the television commercials showing a glass of wine on the end of a bed, and a person jumping up and down on the opposite end of the bed. Clearly, this illustration shows how evenly the weight is distributed across the surface of the bed. A major benefit of this feature is that when your spouse comes to bed after you, he or she will not shake the bed or toss you out of the bed by adding additional weight to the opposite side of the bed. If your bedmate is an especially restless sleeper, the days when his or her movements roused you awake will be long gone.
Whether you sleep alone or with a partner, the most beneficial feature of a memory foam mattress is that the foam totally removes any pressure from the joints of your body. Because your weight is evenly distributed, there is no pressure placed on your neck, shoulders, hips, spine or lower back when you are resting on a memory foam mattress.
