Factors That Determine The Right Pillow
'Which is the right pillow for me,' is a personal thing. While some people prefer to buy a soft pillow, others like their pillow to be firm, one that provides good support to their head and neck.
The Ideal Pillow
Pillows come in a variety of height and softness. The right pillow is one that moulds correctly between the crevice of your head and shoulder. It should not raise or lower the head so much that it causes discomfort while sleeping. The ideal sleeping posture according to doctors is the same as the standing posture.
One must select a pillow according to their body size, personal preference and sleeping posture. Medical problems like asthma, allergies and neck and back problems must be taken into account while selecting the right pillow. An incorrect pillow can lead to headache, neck pain and poor posture.
Factors To Keep In Mind
Following are the factors that determine the pillow's firmness and softness:
Fill: The amount of fill in the pillow should be soft to medium for small framed people and children. Such pillows are also good for people who like to sleep on their stomach. Those who prefer to sleep on their back should get themselves a medium to firm fill option. For people with a large frame, extra fill pillows are the best. Profiles: A low profile pillow is ideal for people with a small frame and tummy sleepers. Medium profile is the right pillow for people who sleep on their back. High profile pillows are for large–frame people who sleep on their back. Fill type: One can choose from among synthetic fill, foam fill, latex fill, wool fiber fill, and feather and down fill. Wool and foam fiber fill offer better support and moisture absorbency.
The right pillow is one that provides support for the neck and the head. If your pillow does not serve the purpose, then replace it.
Remember, your pillow is only as good as your bed so get a good quality divan bed
