Choosing the Right Size of Bed
It may not seem like it, but choosing the right size of bed for your body is actually very important to getting a good night’s sleep. On one hand, choosing a bed that is too small, one in which you will be uncomfortable will lead to poor rest. On the other hand, choosing a bed that is to large will lead to you tossing and turning all night which will also lead to poor rest. For this reason it is very important to choose the right size of bed.
How tall are you?
The first thing you need to consider when choosing the correct bed size is your height. Ideally you want a bed that when you lay flat on your back gives you around 1 meter in total space including head and foot room. While this is ideal, you can get away with a bit more and a bit less room.
How wide are you?
When it comes to the width of the bed you should be able to lay flat on your back with your arms resting at your sides loosely and still have room to move your arms. Again this is not an exact estimate, you just want to make sure that you have enough room to move comfortably while sleeping. Without having so much room you roll off the bed.
Do you sleep alone?
While the truth is that most of us get the best rest when we are able to sleep alone, many of us do not. If you share your bed with another person, you want to make sure it is big enough to accommodate both of you when resting flat on your back. However, not only do you want to make sure you have enough room for yourself, you also want to make sure your partner has enough room and there is some space between you. While the romantic image is of people holding one another close throughout the night, most of us want some space while we are sleeping. In the end it may seem like a small consideration, but making sure your bed is the right size will help to insure you get a good night’s rest.
